The nation is taking the largest municipal bankruptcy in our history in stride. Cynics might say this outcome was inevitable as Detroit was afflicted with a bad case of Democrats. Remember though, that same disease is now rampant in Washington, and that the illness of progressive Republicanism may end up being just as destructive.
