A Power Equation

If a man in the public eye is making millions and is considered to have great clout in media, if he makes a pass on a female subordinate, is it attempted seduction or abuse? It sounds to me like the mob making the offer you can't refuse and seems very exploitative and wrong.

The Spear Catchers

Members of my family have had about as much luck picking stocks as the fellow who bought the horse-drawn carriage manufacturer in 1920 knowing it was just a matter of time before the horse and buggy made a big comeback. We never bought into companies that were "too big to fail", preferring to sock our money away in enterprises too small to succeed.

Juggling Some Chainsaws

I am watching a particular stock that surged yesterday on an announcement that they are restructuring. I still will not buy in because forty-six state attorneys general are suing this particular company (and several others) for price fixing. How does restructuring mitigate the damage the government going after a company does?

Which Bursts First

Do you think the BitCoin bubble or US stock markets will crash first? I think BitCoin because there is absolutely nothing behind it, no government guarantee, no intrinsic value, and a great chance some national or transnational entity figures a way to mess it up.

Spring in Fall

Nashville is in the sixties today. I saw dozens of bicyclists, joggers, and motorcyclists out today enjoying the false spring. That will change soon enough though.

About Economic Fairness

In spite of the fact that there are hiring signs up all over Nashville, you still see homeless on street corners holding signs emblazoned with "will work for food". These con artists do not want to "work" at all or they could easily find work with fair wages.

Just Spend Away

Social critics from Pope Francis on down have condemned consumerism. What more fair way of distribution is there than free market capitalism? How nice was life in planned economies like the Soviet Union? Pope Francis could not be more wrong. Allowing a person to offer their labor for the price they believe it is worth and buying what they need and want with the proceeds is the best way ever devised to distribute resources.

Happy Thanksgiving Folks

I wonder if the turkey feels grateful today. Why do they have to taste so darned good?

The Globalist Cabal

In the last century, internationalists under the banner of Communism did great damage trying to take over the world. While globalists today may not be Communists, they have the potential to do just as much damage as the Reds did. The George Bushes were not so benign and George Soros is one dangerous instigator.

Manson Burning Forever

Notorious murderer Charles Manson has died, long years after he should have been executed. Good riddance! Manson will burn in hell.

War on Reason

Many of the same voices telling us man-caused global warming is killing the planet are now telling us our status at birth does not determine if we are male or female. These confused folk are wrong on both counts.

War on Police

During the Obama administration, America's police came under siege by the Left, most notably by Black Lives Matter. Numerous police have been murdered since then, including two in the last couple of days in Baltimore and Pennsylvania. There is no war on blacks by American law enforcement, but police trying to protect their communities are under threat every day.

Zimbabwe Needs Change

Let us hope the murderer and tyrant who has oppressed Zimbabwe has been removed for good. Once one of the most prosperous countries in Africa, Robert Mugabe turned the former Rhodesia into a hellhole. Whether Zimbabwe's military initiated a coup on its own or if the overthrow of the dictator was inspired from abroad, it is time to say good riddance to the despot.

Guilty as Ever

Bill Clinton was a sexual predator who would have never faced a consequence were it not for the "blue dress". Roy Moore may be absolutely innocent but is being destroyed by unproven forty year old allegations. I continue to believe in Judge Moore.

Real Rape Culture

Supposedly, according to many feminists, our colleges and universities are infested with male predators bent on sexually exploiting every coed. I do not know about these schools but it sure looks like the entertainment industry and more broadly media have been plagued by male sexual aggressors. I do not know about DC deviants, though I am sure at least some politicians are trying to keep pace with the Hollywood perverts, but Roy Moore does not seem like a lothario to me.

Roy Moore's Solution

If Roy Moore is indeed innocent, he should offer to take a polygraph and challenge his accusers to do the same. Anyone can make an accusation. Everyone is entitled to a presumption of innocence in the American judicial system. The court of public opinion is a different matter though. Let us hope that if the allegations against Roy Moore are a political hit job, that he overcomes them to serve in the US Senate. Let us also hope that if Moore was pursuing sex with underage Alabama girls that it ends his political career. I think Moore is the victim of a contrived smear and is innocent.

An Unlikely Pair

President Trump has little in common with President Duterte. Trump came from a background of privilege and affluence. Duterte came up in hardscrabble and brutal poverty. Trump made himself vastly more wealthy. Duterte fought what he saw as evil. I do believe each leader loves his nation, which is about the only thing they have in common.

America the Bold

We are a nation of warriors, We go to war, not for conquest but for liberation. America's veterans have not fought for gold but human liberty. Thank you veterans for defending and spreading freedom.

Trump's Asia Trip

President Trump showed the world that America will no longer be a doormat and dumping ground in trade relations at the APEC Summit. Trump is no President Pushover. He also let North Korea know aggression will not be tolerated. President Trump did NOT BOW DOWN to any foreign potentate as his predecessor did.

Really Hurting Themselves

The Republicans blocking President Trump's agenda and the NFL commissioner are actually destroying the brands they think they are protecting. Many Trump supporters see GOP obstruction as a greater threat than Democrat resistance. In the case of pro football, many lifelong fans will now never attend or watch another game and certainly will no longer purchase NFL gear unless the league turns away from the BLM attitude it is shoving in the face of its audience with the acquiescence of Roger Goodell.

Beware the Chainsaw

Do not fear the high power semi-automatic rifle. What you need to worry about is the chainsaw attached to it. At least, this is a menace according to USA Today after the Texas church slaughter, the rag that I used to pick up at motels to take back from vacation for the birdcage.

Republican Obstructionism Works

When Republicans rally to prevent a President from implementing his agenda, it really works. It is only a shame the Republicans in Congress did not do this when Obama was President. By stifling Trump, a President of their own party, the GOP achieves something else, they manage to lose elections. Ironically, they will find the more success they enjoy in thwarting Trump, the more elections they will lose to Democrats.

Seeking Gun Bans

Even though a law-abiding citizen with a gun stopped the Texas church massacre, Democrat bigwigs immediately wanted to use the tragedy to go after law-abiding citizens gun rights. These Democrats are sick opportunists. They want you to be forced to give up the gun you protect yourself and your family with while they keep the phalanx of armed security they employ (often at your expense through the taxes you pay).

Monday, November 6, 2017

The Texas Tragedy

Senseless! Just as the Las Vegas massacre was senseless. Evil exists. Do not blame the gun. The murderer was stopped by an armed civilian. I hope there is a hell for the murderer.

The Iranian Hegemon

Iran is now in de facto control of huge swathes of Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, and the Iraq the US liberated from Saddam. We spilled blood and spent treasure only to leave the door open to the mad mullahs when Obama prematurely pulled the bulk of US forces from Iraq. Russia also crept into the power void when Obama abdicated American responsibility by withdrawing too soon.

No Simple Answers

The drug problem in America will not be solved easily. There are not sufficient in-patient facilities or treatment beds. Addicts who want help to quit apparently can not find or afford medical intervention too many times. I would suggest that an enormous tax be placed on the marijuana business where it has been made legal to fund additional drug treatment facilities. I would suggest draconian sentences for drug dealers. If the nation does not have the stomach for a Duterte approach for wiping out pushers, I would hope life sentences would be meted out for all large scale drug dealers or any drug dealer who sells narcotics to children. I would also institute mandatory drug testing for welfare recipients with termination of benefits for those who test positive as I would not want our generous nature abused to fund drug habits. I would also authorize the US military to assist foreign countries in drug production eradication efforts in every instance where those drugs find their way onto US streets.

Drug Death Crisis

America must take the war on drugs more seriously as overdoses are becoming one of the leading causes of death in many states. I was blissfully unaware of the scope of the problem until I checked into a Louisville motel a couple of years ago. The lady at the front desk told me she was "just back from a couple of weeks off". I asked her if she had a "vacation". She began to tear up and exclaimed, "No, no vacation- my 44 year old husband died after eating a Fentanyl patch!" This drug epidemic is a menace that must be stopped.

Not a Deterrent

Jihad attackers who want martyrdom are not deterred by the prospect of the death penalty. To these terrorists, dying in the cause of advancing their beliefs is the highest reward. What the Russians reputedly did in Lebanon after a couple of their people were abducted decades ago is a real deterrent, as the Russians were said to have wiped the family and tribe members of the kidnappers from the face of the earth. After that, no one bothered the Russians again in Lebanon.

House of Cruds

I certainly hope Hollywood values are not America's values. I imbibed in alcohol when I was younger, but never sexually harassed or molested anyone while I was drinking or while I was sober. I imagine the gay community is just thrilled that Kevin Spacey announces he is gay in the wake of allegations that he made advances on a fourteen year old boy. There are now hundreds if not thousands of charges flying around that Hollywood bigwigs ravaged or sexually harassed boys and girls, men and women. It is no wonder so much of the product the entertainment industry produces seems to be intended to corrupt our morals. It is!
