Waiting Not Watching

I may watch a pro football game again, but it will be years from now, when all the America-haters have retired. Think how many other things I will be able to do by freeing up those hours I used to consume watching the NFL.

The Poor Oppressed

How can someone earning over a million dollars per year consider themselves oppressed? I think most people wish they were "oppressed" like that.

Who Is Racist

I have heard people in the anthem kneeling debate contend that blacks, because they lack power, can not be racist. I think racism is equally prevalent among all races. There certainly are whites with disdain for minorities, but there are minority members who hate whites as well. That is why I have never tried to separate people by race but consider us all individuals within the one human race who should be judged on actions, not skin color.

Alabama's Strange Night

Luther Strange was not a conservative candidate. Strange was not a populist candidate. Strange was not a "Trump man". Senator Strange failed because he was the Washington insider, the establishment choice. Roy Moore is much more down the line rightist than Strange. Moore is also more in the mold of the anti-establishment Trump than the man Trump endorsed in the Republican primary.

The Big Winner

President Trump won big over the petulant America-hating millionaire players of the NFL and the crony capitalist billionaire team owners who were all giving the finger to the fans who used to buy tickets to games. Just as I don't subsidize the Hollywood left by going to their movies, I will never again support the NFL with my dollars.

Football Players Disgust

My uncle and a cousin were killed wearing the uniform of this nation during World War II. I am honored to rise during our National Anthem. Players becoming rich playing a child's game should be honored to rise for the Star Spangled Banner. Would these athletes be making millions playing football in any other country?

Bravo President Trump

If the privileged pro football players do not know how lucky they are to be paid millions of dollars in an event that could only happen because of America, maybe patriotic Americans should show them by refusing to attend their games, not buying NFL-licensed products, and boycotting their TV advertisers until all the revenue used to pay them dries up. On this, I stand firmly with our President.

Ailing the Vols

Man, I miss Phil Fulmer and Johnny Majors. They may not have been glamorous coaches, but they did process right. Their versions of UT football almost always defeated the opponents they were supposed to beat. Coach Jones is obviously a work in progress, and he has beaten some tough SEC rivals, but he has never beaten the Crimson Tide and for some reason, seems to have problems with teams he should easily defeat. I wish Coach Jones every success as the Tennessee football coach, but if he does not produce, maybe someone else should take the helm.

Seeing Old Friends

Yesterday, at religious services, I ran into someone I knew in my youth forty-five years ago when I was five years old. I had not seen him in at least a couple of decades. I do not think either of us had changed a bit. We saw each others' children for the first time and that took us back to the old JCC when we met then when we were our kids' age now. I will make it a point not to wait a couple of decades to renew acquaintance again.

Happy New Year

With all the recent natural disaster and tragedy, there might not be much to celebrate, but this is Jewish New Year. May this year be blessed with better health and peace.

Tragedy in Mexico

A powerful earthquake has just devastated Mexico City. Over two hundred are dead. More buildings are in danger of collapse. Pray for Mexico.

Spare Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is already suffering from an economic crisis. The US Territory does not need to sustain a hurricane of any sort. A Category Five with incredibly destructive power seems to be bearing down on the island. Pray that Maria turns away from Puerto Rico.

Banish United Nations

America should leave the UN and make that repository of corruption and antisemitism leave the US. The best thing Trump could tell the General Assembly today with its kleptocrats, autocrats, and Jew-haters is "get lost!"

Pro Football Plantation

I have heard professional football players in America complain that they are still on "the plantation". Do these athletes realize they are paid vastly more than most workers? They make more than most doctors who are presumptively saving human lives? These players are crazy not to recognize how lucky they are.

Ready to Condemn

The Prime Minister of Great Britain reserved some of her harshest criticism after the train bombings not for the terrorists but for President Donald Trump. The Prime Minister should focus on protecting her country at which she is not succeeding, not on smearing allies who are leading the fight to destroy the terrorists.

An Infernal Device

An Islamist fanatic detonated a bomb on a London underground train injuring more than twenty innocent people earlier today. This device was meant to kill with the hope that even more would die, trampled in a stampede to escape the tube. This type of attack is difficult to prevent, but thankfully, intelligence agencies have intercepted several similar efforts. Vigilance on the part of the public also helps. It is the infernal notion that killing innocents advances a religious agenda that must be defeated.

Never Was Conservative

Donald Trump was never on the right. He may not want to ban guns (yet) and has appointed some originalist judges, which Hillary would not have done, but Trump was NEVER A CONSERVATIVE. That is why I supported Ted Cruz, who is an authentic conservative, in the primaries. I am not surprised now that Trump is granting the so-called "Dreamers" amnesty. I feel betrayed that there will apparently not be a border wall between the US and Mexico as Trump outright promised multiple times during the campaign. I ultimately voted for Trump as he is the lesser evil when contrasted with Hillary but feel he has greatly heartened "coyote" people smugglers and Latin drug gangs by backing off his pledge to secure our Southern border.

The National Priority

Restoring our defense, which was gutted by the Obama administration, has to be President Trump's first objective. North Korea, Iran, and jihad terrorists should again tremble at the thought of provoking the US.

Reach the Moon

It was on this day that John F. Kennedy called for the US to reach the moon. It is the American can-do spirit that helped us achieve that goal. We are still the only nation that has managed that. Russia and Red China have strong militaries, but neither has had a man walk on the moon. Japan and the crumbling EU have scientific achievement of their own, but only the USA has planted our flag on the lunar surface. The US still can achieve much when Americans make it a national priority.

Date of Infamy

On this date, sixteen short years ago, our slumbering nation was attacked in a deed as dastardly as has ever been perpetrated. We still have not erased the threat of aggressive Islamism that killed three thousand of our friends, neighbors, and family members that day. Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.

Red China Culprit

Looking at Red China to force North Korea away from nuclear weapons is like having the fox guard the chicken coop. North Korea is Communist China's pit Yorkie.

Not Completely Accurate

Climatologists, who know man will make the planet uninhabitable in a few hundred years, can not figure out which coast of Florida will bear the brunt of a hurricane two days out. We really need to heed what they say on man-caused global warming though.

End of War

World War I was sold as the "war to end war". I actually believe war will only end when mankind does, Sadly, conflict has been our natural state with only a handful of years in human history not being marked by war. North Korea's "Dear Leader" may think Americans tremble at the prospect of war. He should watch the movie "Patton".

Down Goes Frazier

Some media people are hyping hurricane damage like a title fight. They are desperate to somehow blame President Trump and the Republicans for a natural event. What sort of person tries to win political points as people are drowning?

The Killer Hurricanes

There is no doubt that this is a perilous hurricane season. Many are claiming that this is attributable to man-caused climate change. This is utter nonsense. Some of the most destructive hurricanes on record occurred before the creation of the internal combustion engine and before the industrial age. The important thing when these storms hit is not pinning blame on a myth but protecting life and if possible, property.

Wary of War

I have a friend visiting South Korea this week. I would not go there now. Even if America and her allies knock out all of Pyongyang's weapons of mass destruction in a first strike, North Korea has huge numbers of conventional artillery pieces aimed at Seoul. I just hope nothing starts during my friend's trip. Whenever it does start, as I fear is bound to happen, millions will die,

Not Just Bluster

Some people are claiming that North Korea has no aggressive intentions. Some people thought there would be "peace in are time" with Hitler in the late 1930s. How did that appeasement work out for the world?

Sunday, September 3, 2017

North Korean Threats

I would take the threats from Pyongyang very seriously. In fact, I would preempt them by obliterating North Korea's military capacity in a massive first strike.

Fire and Flood

Circumstances that almost seem Biblical have hit Texas. Many feet of water have engulfed neighborhoods. A chemical plant has exploded. The damage from Harvey now extends beyond the Lone Star State into Louisiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky. I pray no more lives are lost and that victims are back on their feet as quickly as possible.

Beware High Water

I only drove one time during the May 2010 Thousand Year Flood in my hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. I was very lucky to be able to return safely after going out for food. Last night, I was forced to drive extensively during the Nashville flooding. Just as an observation- I notice there seems to be a lot of dangerous ponding at intersections- you all be safe out there.
