You know for everyone who fancied a gunfighter a hero in the cowboy days, someone else likely thought him a villain. I suppose the same is true now in the terrorist or freedom fighter argument. Moral ambiguity seems to permeate life.

Simply Another Species

One of my late great aunts would frequenty declare, "you just can't understand people" as she led her remarkable life that included being a secretary to Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox and to Edward R. Murrow and later a decorator for the Hilton family and a female "engineeer" at Bechtel despite the fact that she never studied engineering (The company apparently did not have a designation for "decorator"), and being an accomplished artist in her own right. I just wonder what Aunt Bertie thought she was if not a person.

Rich Man's Game

Many who seek office are already wealthy. That of course does not mean that they are still not susceptible to graft. If you are poor, you may seek office, but with what campaigns cost today, you have a tough fight ahead.

Of Modest Means

Many folks enter national politics without great wealth, but almost none leave poor. I think a lot of politicians only run for office to feather their own nests. Dennis Kucinich is one of the few to enter Congress not intending to get rich, and Donald Trump lost billions of dollars by gaining the Presidency.

The Year Ahead

Anyone who thinks they can foretell the future will likely be wrong more than right. One thing you can make book on is that many people will suffer in 2022, just as they did in 2021. Another safe bet is that opportunists will try to profit from the pain and fear of others in the coming year, likely using the pandemic to their own advantage.

Count Your Blessings

On this Christmas day, if you are in America, even Biden's America, count yourself fortunate. The poor in the United States generally live better than those considered prosperous in many other countries.

Just a Fact

If inflation was measured the way it had been in the 1970s, it would be much higher now than is being reported, but the way it is tallied has been changed to make it appear lower than it would have been by traditional standards. This accrues to the benefit of the Biden regime as our economic situation does not appear as dire as it was under Jimmy Carter (which in fact, it is).

The Weimar Reaction

When decadence is imposed on the populace, there is often a reaction. In the case of pre-World War II Germany, the response to the excesses was Nazism. In America, we have now seen the Left steal power and go wild. I wonder what right thinking Americans will do in taking the country back.

Many Empty Shelves

Many popular toys are unattainable at stores. You can find them on EBay, but their prices are well over the "recommended retail value". Clothing items are also hard to come by, and there are even grocery stores facing low inventory. This is not an America I have ever seen.

A Bankrupt Nation

You can have plenty of money in your pocket that can not buy you anything. Just look at Venezuela and before that Zimbabwe. That is the situation Build Back Better would have engendered.

Need Some Cash

If you need a loan, go to someone who owns a gas station. If you need a tank of gasoline, offer your first born as an even exchange. I have been driving just short of forty years and have never witnessed gas prices this high.

Mortgage Your House

I drove from Nashville to pick up my daughter in Louisville. You could have bought a house in 1921 or what my gasoline cost a century later. I really wish my car would operate on 87 octane, but dimwit that I am, I had to buy a premium fuel burner. There ought to be a loan officer at the filling station these days.

Maybe Next Year

Do you think in 2022 the human race will be declared "COVID-safe" or "coronavirus free"? I guarantee you this will NOT happen as our overlords have found using the virus and the fear they create by hyping the pandemic have gained them more power than anyone had heretofore accumulated in history.

Entirely Forgettable Flicks

Has one movie taken from comic books made a lasting impression on anybody? Is there a single line from any of these films that will stand the test of time? Even the Christopher Reeve Superman, which was the best of a bad lot, has not stood up as anything approaching a classic (though anyone who watched will mark Reeve's performance as a good one). It is a shame that the great super hero movie has not been made yet, but it is also an opportunity.

Test of Time

I can watch It's a Wonderful Life every holiday season. Same is true of A Christmas Story. Can you tell me of a movie made in the last couple of decades that endured like these?

On Today's Movies

The schlock being turned out today does not hold a candle to the movies of days of yore. The Golden Age of Hollywood is not tarnished but erased with all the filth and propaganda being churned out now.

Most Memorable Quote

The single most unforgettable line in movies comes from Gone with the Wind. Rhett Butler shakes the world when he writes off his scheming wife Scarlett O'Hara with "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!" If you have ever seen this captivating film, you will always hear that echo.

Most Memorable Lines

Is there a movie with as many iconic and unforgettable lines as Casablanca? "Gambling at Rick's!?!" "We'll always have Paris". "Round up the usual suspects". Essential in the context of this all time classic. I could quote more, but you would be better off watching this movie than reading a few tidbits taken from it.

Save the West

If you are able to preserve the dominance of Judeo-Christian thought in Europe and the United States, you will save the world. If Muslims are not blocked from their ascendancy, we will have a thousand years or more of darkness. Eric Zemmour is the great defender of our culture and way of life who in victory can keep us free and safe. Zemmour must win in France.

Watch Me Grow

There were beautiful trees all over the neighborhood. By any objective standard, the Harpers' tree was not one of one of these gorgeous trees. Many of these trees were festooned with elaborate Christmas decorations. Mary Harper, the little seven year old thought their lonely little tree should be adorned as well. There really were not a lot of branches to hang ornaments on or to decorate in the usual way. But when the family started to show the little sapling attention, branches amazingly began to sprout. Soon, the Harpers had the prettiest, most wonderfully bedecked tree in the entire neighborhood.

A Complete Failure

Joe Biden can't convey a thought of his own, and at this point, he can't even properly read what is prepared for him on the teleprompter. Biden can not possibly turn around the problems he has heaped on the US because he has lost whatever mental capacity he once had.

A Qualified Success

Joe Biden managed to do one thing well. He and the cabal around him stole a nation. Outside of that, his administration has been an abysmal failure in every aspect that matters to working Americans and those who want gainful employment.

Trust but Verify

It was Ronald Reagan who uttered the phrase "trust but verify" in regard to some treaty we reached with our implacable Red adversary of that era. I held more faith in our enemy of that period than I have in Tony Fauci. I think the "BAD DOCTOR" is using us and our children as guinea pigs in an effort to line his already deep pockets. You never expect the poison to come from someone presenting himself as your helping hand, but I simply have no faith in Fauci.

Ukraine or Taiwan

Will an enemy of the United States soon invade an American ally? Yes, indeed, I believe that will happen in due course. I think it will be Red China invading Taiwan to capitalize on Biden's weakness and to distract the Chinese people from the looming economic collapse brought on by the corruption and mismanagement of the Communist Party of China. Putin might encroach more of the Ukraine as well, but the Red Chinese will jump first. I am not even sure they will wait for the end of the Olympics they will soon be hosting to strike.

Enmity or Friendship

Eighty years ago today, the Japanese displayed the ultimate antipathy for Americans. Now, Japan is a steadfast ally of the United States. Perhaps, at some point in the future, Iran will be friendly toward America. Let us hope that blood does not have to be shed in the meantime.

Save the Babies

I am as dead set against abortion as anybody. The only exceptions I would make would be to save the life of the mother, if the fetus was proved medically to be non-viable, and perhaps I might permit the pregnancy to be terminated in cases of rape and incest. I do not think the US Supreme Court as currently constituted with the Biden regime in power will uphold the Mississippi abortion law or any other restrictions on abortion-on-demand. I think the Court is made up largely of Leftists and cowards and will uphold the legality of abortion for any reason at any time right up until birth and permit mothers to murder their pre-born babies for no reason at all.

Saved the World?

Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, and Pope John Paul II could be said to have brought down the global menace that was the Soviet Union. Perhaps, the USSR would have ultimately fallen anyway due its own corruption, but these three stalwarts for human freedom certainly brought the Evil Empire down sooner than it may have fallen otherwise.

Taste of Normalcy

We are having conference football championships today in packed arenas. Watching the crowds, you would never know there is a pandemic. I am not a betting man, but would bet that soon the power-mad DemocRATS in Washington and in states they control will reimpose lockdowns that prevent massive gatherings like we are seeing now from happening again for the foreseeable future, using the current variant or perhaps the next one as a pretext.

In the Know

Joe Biden at this point seems to be an empty-headed empty suit. Old Joe is certainly still a DemocRAT, but perhaps would fit in better with the long-defunct Know-Nothing Party, because with his mental decline, he has little comprehension of the damage to America being done in his name.

Fox Guarding Henhouse

Tony Fauci is a megalomaniac bent on advancing his own authority and the power of those who grant him his brief. If you have listened to his diktats and complied with them, you are a lamb in the care of a wolf.

The Biden Boom

One thing is certain about the Biden prosperity- almost no Americans are experiencing it. US stocks are tanking as gas prices soar, but old Joe is fine with that, so long as his son Hunter sells plenty of paintings. Joe Biden is all for profits so long as it is he, his kin, and his close cronies making it.
