Respect for Law

Two prosecutors in Texas have been murdered in recent months, with the second killed alongside his wife overnight. If anarchy is to be avoided as it must at all costs, law must be enforced. Allegations that white separatists committed these outrages further heightens tensions. Let us hope lawful authority quickly apprehends and convicts the responsible parties and respect for law is rapidly restored.

Field of Conflict

With the many threats issued from North Korea and the lingering promise by Iran to "wipe Israel off the map", the place where most of the actual killing is going on is in fact Syria. And Syria could at any moment spark wider regional conflict with fighting potentially spilling into Turkey, the Golan Heights, or most likely, Lebanon. Syria is already becoming a proxy war of Shia backed by Iran against Sunni backed mainly by Saudi Arabia with the Shia propping up the Alawite Assad regime. The nations surrounding Syria want to stay out of the direct fighting but could be drawn in to what might be the Third World War.

Some Rational Consideration

I believe the young North Korean dictator enjoys living and will not deliberately spark a conflagration that would inevitably result in his own death. I worry though that Iranian leadership with their fanatic religious devotion does not care about personal survival. I sense little real menace in DPRK bluster, but with heightened tension, an accident could happen that would end with great bloodshed and misery. Iran on the other hand portends a threat never before seen with End Time ideology rapidly merging with nuclear weapons capability. Every security challenge must be taken seriously, but the mad mullahs of Tehran welcome the chance to meet their Maker.

Essence of Love

Love is placing the needs of the other before self. Love is altruism in action, whether that be the love we see manifest now in the new Pope for the Church (and beyond that for humanity), the love of a mother for her child, or a man for his wife. The motives of true love are always pure and to the extent we still reflect the image of the Creator, love is what has sustained mankind. The world does not need court decisions defining marriage, but more decency kindled by authentic love.

Way of Cyprus

Could the United States go the way of Cyprus? If America does, we are not "too big to fail", but we are too vast to bail out as a nation. Unfortunately, the trillion dollar-plus expense engendered by Obama Care brings the US closer to that day of reckoning. Barack Hussein Obama claimed his health care plan would save the insured about $2500 per household. In point of fact, the medical insurance expense will rise for most Americans, insurance companies will face a greater burden, and ten to fifteen million Americans will remain uninsured while illegal aliens enjoy easier access to medical benefits. Obama Care will not provide universal access to quality medical care (as those who are temporizing in pursuit of ever increasing power contended when they sold the concept of the Affordable Care Act) but will push the Federal government and US citizens that much closer to bankruptcy.

Simply a Taking

In Cyprus now, and in other countries later, government is seizing portions of depositors' accounts, now reportedly, forty percent of savings for all but those who hold small deposits. And the BBC describes this outrageous theft as a "haircut". Innocent depositors are now paying for the gross overspending of corrupt politicians and being raped for trusting bankers. If a teller embezzles a little money, he is jailed and never again works for a bank, but if the elite orchestrate the theft of billions, they are feted in the media as saviors of the Euro as they sip the Champagne the common folk end up paying for at the meeting of our global masters in Davos.

A Late Spring

In spite of the calendar claiming spring, vast swathes of the country from the Midwest and even into the South are contending with snow. Let the global warming begin!

Border Heats Up

The border between Israel and Syria has always been a tense one, but now, with unrest rocking Syria, the Golan Heights may be engulfed in a shooting war at any time. In fact, the real war may already be starting with Israel forced to return fire into Syria earlier today. The Assad regime is hanging by a thread and the Assadists do no want the added hazard of having to additionally confront the IDF.

A Baby Killer

This teenager De'Marquis Elkins allegedly deliberately shot a thirteen month old boy in his face, murdering him, while wounding his mother, in an attempted robbery in Brunswick, Georgia. If the facts bear out as alleged, for the sake and safety of society, may this young but conscienceless monster never see the light of day again as a free man.(Photo seconded from The Blaze, by way of the Associated Press, that originated in the Glynn County Detention Center.)

Two to Tango

Barack Hussein Obama chastised Israel for her so-called "settlement enterprise" in his remarks to an Israeli audience before he departed for Jordan. In upbraiding the Jewish state, the US President fails to recognize that to most of the Muslims in the world, settlers are not only in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, including Hevron, but anywhere in the Holy Land a living Jew draws breath. To those who practice political Islam and the jihadists of the world, Tel Aviv is a settlement.

Rocketing Toward Peace

The Palestinians greeted the visit by the US President Barack Hussein Obama to the Holy Land by unleashing deadly Kassam rockets on their Jewish neighbors. This barrage is a triple offense aimed not only at the intended innocent Jewish victims, but at the prospect of peace itself, and lastly, demonstrating exactly the esteem the Palestinians hold our President (and by extension America) in- which is utter contempt.

Obama Touches Down

Air Force One has landed in Israel and Barack Hussein Obama has arrived more than four years into his Presidency. Obama is in the Holy Land because he presumes that he is able to create an outcome in the Middle East Conflict by dictating to the Jews. This is because he has no natural affinity for the Zionist enterprise but real empathy for the plight of the Palestinians. Obama has always resented colonialism and he sees Israel as a colonialist entity. Obama's thinking has been shaped by lifelong connection to Islam through his stepfather Soetero, who was a practicing Muslim, more than his birth father with whom he had little contact although Obama Sr. was also raised in the Islamic faith. Obama's view that Israel is an oppressor was further shaped by his friendship with adamantly anti-Zionist scholar Rashid Khalidi. Just as Obama is a classic redistributionist at home because he wants to get even with the rich because he thinks he is championing the little guy, Obama believes Israel is a bully in her dangerous neighborhood and a tyrant crushing legitimate Palestinian aspirations. I have great fear for Obama's plan for the Jewish State.

A Fair Exchange?

Barack Hussein Obama may think his gesture of merely showing up on Israel's soil should be enough that the Jewish people gladly relinquish claims to their ancient and sacred capital and make other territorial concessions that would leave the Jewish state unable to defend herself. Obama's magnanimity of stepping into the Promised Land deserves hospitality and an explanation by Israel's leadership of the strategic realities the imperiled Israel faces. The sad thing is no matter what Obama hears, it will not sway his determination to force the Jews out of East Jerusalem and to carve a Palestinian state out of what would soon become the former Jewish state.

The Bank Robbery

What is happening in Cyprus with ten percent of bank accounts being seized will naturally undermine confidence in the world banking system. Who would leave money in the bank knowing it could be grabbed arbitrarily by government at any time? This maneuver of instituting a "taking" will not solve the European economic crisis but cause even more faith to be lost in government and banks.

Trysts with Taliban

Last week, the leader of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai alleged that the US had conspired with the Taliban. This allegation is so absurd that along with being corrupt, I would contend Karzai might be insane. It may be time to cast aside any pretext of friendship with the duplicitous Karzai government and wish the Afghan people "good luck".

The Cruise Casino

Who in their right mind would book a cruise right now? With the alarmingly persistent norovirus making passengers on multiple pleasure ships ill, with mechanical problems making Carnival passengers miserable on three ships now, just after the nightmare cruise which received international attention, how much of a discount would you need to board a sea cruise? I would not go if I had free tickets.

Loving Thy Neighbor

Any religion that advances tolerance and peaceful coexistence is preferable to a faith that requires its adherents to convert by the sword. You do not have to kill people to advance universal truths. Buddhism, Hinduism, the Baha'i faith, Judaism, and Protestant and Catholic Christianity promulgate faith by sharing ideas. Another world faith is more bellicose in trying to garner converts. The new Pope is a staunch opponent of the culture of death in all its manifestations, both secular and religious. Let us, regardless of faith, join on the path of consecrating life.

Hope for Pope

The lead story on every newscast seems to be the ascension of the new Pope. Curiously, the College of Cardinals selected a man only two years younger than Benedict XVI was when he became Pope and served a relatively short Papacy. I am not Catholic but wish for that great faith that Pope Francis I is the force for moral good and advocate of life the world at large so much needs.

Ire of Beholder

A two-bit publicity seeking mayor from France has honored a Jihadi assassin, who murdered an Israeli cabinet minister. The French Jew-baiter then characterizes those who criticize him as "haters". So speaking ill of one who speaks ill makes one politically unacceptable. Oh well, I guess a relative nobody has gained undeserved international attention by proving how much hatred toward Jews many still harbor. Read about incident in The Jerusalem Post here: http://www.jpost.com/JewishWorld/JewishNews/Article.aspx?id=306298.

Hope- Not Policy

I do not believe that hoping that the economy improves or that Iran abandons her nuclear ambitions are policy. They are both certainly the outcomes to be desired, but "hope" is a campaign slogan and not a strategy for creating those ends. Do fiat currency (through successive quantitative easings) and free money (through negligible interest rates) make us more prosperous or more apt to fall into inflation and then even hyperinflation? Do sanctions thwart Iran or only make the Iranian people suffer while their leaders proceed toward their atomic aspirations apace? We need to hope our leaders have more to offer than half-measures and rhetoric.

Dancing with Dunces

When a school suspends small children for biting toaster pastry into the shape of a gun or pointing fingers at each other simulating firearms or bringing a cake to school decorated with a green plastic soldier, the students are not at fault. The adults who are so rigid and inflexible and hold such anti-gun beliefs are. When I was in high school in the mid-1980s, we had a rifle team. There was no particular stigma attached to the inanimate object that in the right hands is a tool for defense of an individual, family, and even a nation.

The Stock Bubble

Even with the rise of US markets measured in fiat money, I would not expect the rally to hold. I do not mean a sell off for profit taking either, or a correction, but a return to sanity in which investors wake up to the fact that there is no there there. That is the stock prices do not reflect the fundamental value of the companies they represent. Remember my warning some months ago when Apple was at its peak and consider how many other corporations are now insanely over valued.

The Homeless, Liberated

Middle Tennessee has just had two stories that highlight the plight caused by de-institutionalization of folks who are a danger to themselves and to the community at large. Three homeless men who were intoxicated lit a fire in a building in downtown Nashville in an attempt to stay warm. The inadvertent arsonists managed to ignite the place they were sheltering and the fire they started spread to another building before our fire department managed to put it out. In another incident in a bedroom community near Nashville, a homeless man allegedly molested a woman who bought copies of our homeless newspaper, The Contributor, from him. In each of these incidences, the community would have been better served if these vagrants had been held under close supervision.

Truth About Chavez

To hear the old-line world media lauding the recently deceased Venezuelan dictator is utterly disgusting. Hugo Chavez was no savior to the poor. He succeeded in hurting the rich (and apparently looting two billion dollars of his nation's resources) while the masses did not have their lives improve a bit. Chavez and his cadre intimidated the opposition, tried to silence critics, and even murdered some of those who stood against Chavez for freedom while chasing others from the country. Let the leftist media gush over the America-hating and Jew-baiting thug. It says all we need to know about the BBC and the other propagandists now praising this vile tyrant.

North Korean Bluster

North Korea has threatened the United States with a nuclear attack. This is equivalent to a Chihuahua growling at a Rottweiler. This bellicose display tends to have a bad outcome for the tiny aggressor. It is conceivable the the North Koreans could do some damage to some part of Alaska or Hawaii or even the West Coast, but the North Koreans must realize that if they do launch their "preemptive nuclear strike" that only cockroaches will remain alive in that benighted country.

Welcome American Emperor

The United States government under Attorney General Eric Holder and Supreme Leader Barack Hussein Obama asserts the right to kill you (or me for that matter) with a strike from a drone. No previous President has claimed this power. Ponder how small the individual is measured against the force of government as you read this Joel Gehrke piece from The Washington Examiner:http://washingtonexaminer.com/eric-holder-drone-strikes-against-americans-on-u.s.-soil-are-legal/article/2523319. If this abusive usurpation of authority does not scare you, you are a sheep on the path to slaughter.

Good Riddance Chavez

Hugo Chavez, one of the great enemies of human freedom, is dead. I for one do not mourn his passing. Chavez attempted to be the nemesis of the United States during his time in power and now this thorn in liberty's side has joined Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Pol Pot, and Che Guevara in the fiery furnace the good Lord reserves for those who do murder to advance socialist despotism.

A Willing Dupe

A former American basketball player, who is waging the fight to avoid fading into obscurity, tried to make himself relevant again (and I am sure he thought more marketable) by playing diplomat with the murderous dictator of North Korea. It is unfortunate that Dennis Rodman was so deluded. How would you like your brand represented by the visage of someone who looks like a carnival freak and will now forever be known as a friend of dictators? Perhaps Rodman would have been better off if he had stuck to sport and not attempted to enter the realm of diplomacy. He obviously neither helped himself nor the long-suffering North Korean people and certainly did not advance peace.

Instruments of Tyranny

Why would the Federal government absent the US military need over one and one half billion rounds of ammunition? Why would domestic agencies of the Federal government require two thousand seven hundred armored vehicles? I would contend that the Obama regime would only need so much armament if they felt they would have to turn back a civil insurrection by a significant portion of the American people. I fear Team Obama will direct that force against the domestic population of the US. If you are not yet convinced and concerned, you should read this Gateway Pundit warning: http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2013/03/obama-dhs-purchases-2700-light-armored-tanks-to-go-with-their-1-6-billion-bullet-stockpile/.

Toward Total Victory

Barack Hussein Obama had no interest in either of the two sequester-averting measures offered by the US House of Representatives. In fact, Obama promised to veto them should they reach his desk. The President's agenda is a clear one. He seeks to place all the blame on the GOP for sequester which in this case is unmerited and clobber Republicans with false charges of fiscal irresponsibility in the 2014 mid-term Congressional elections. With an all for Obama mainstream media, he may just succeed in this endeavor.

Why Borders Matter

It is not only that wages are artificially depressed by the flood of illegal aliens who come to the United States and are unwittingly exploited, or the ever-present danger of drug smugglers and other border-breaching black marketeers or even terrorist infiltrators, but the growing menace of incurable illness being brought in by individuals who have not been vetted by immigration authorities. Betsy McKay chronicles the threat in this excellent Wall Street Journal report:http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323978104578332461533970412.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_LEFTTopStories. If the borders are not closely guarded, a plague of Biblical proportions could kill countless Americans. I commend those who put themselves at risk to protect the homeland.

Bill of Horribles

Despite administration protests to the contrary, the sky will not fall over sequester. America will survive being a sequestration nation without anywhere near the drama Team Obama and his handmaiden press have suggested. I would stake my life that the Great Depression and each of the two World Wars challenged the US much more than eighty-five billion dollars less in Federal spending and America rose from all three events. Keep your spirits up patriots, sequester too will pass.
