Why Borders Matter

It is not only that wages are artificially depressed by the flood of illegal aliens who come to the United States and are unwittingly exploited, or the ever-present danger of drug smugglers and other border-breaching black marketeers or even terrorist infiltrators, but the growing menace of incurable illness being brought in by individuals who have not been vetted by immigration authorities. Betsy McKay chronicles the threat in this excellent Wall Street Journal report: If the borders are not closely guarded, a plague of Biblical proportions could kill countless Americans. I commend those who put themselves at risk to protect the homeland.
