Face of Evil

The problem with detecting the "face of evil" is that almost no one recognizes it in the mirror. Do you think the Parkland shooter or Nazi SS men thought they were doing wrong?

Pen and Ink

Many teenagers are so dependent on electronic keyboards that they have never used an inkpen. Their printer may run out of ink, but their pen never will.

The Monday Markets

A Federal Reserve too aggressive in "fighting inflation" can sink US stocks. The prospect of a war with North Korea (maybe joined by China) can tank the markets as well. Democrats winning the House and stalling the Trump agenda will turn stocks lower. We are in a recovery that most hope is robust, but in truth, it is fragile.

Ever on Sunday

I have not taken a day off this blog since its inception a decade back. This blog is as regular to me as my morning coffee. I hope something I have written has been meaningful to you at some time.

An American Beslan

The United States has porous borders. American citizens and legal resident aliens have traveled abroad to wage jihad and for terrorist training. We need a comprehensive national plan to defend school children, not just from a lone gunman or the prospect of another Columbine, but from a Beslan-type orchestrated terrorist attack. America needs to restrict access to schools to a single entrance where metal detectors are used on everyone seeking access. An armed guard must be stationed at this entrance at all times. Armed school resource officers must be present at every school as well. Armed veterans or retired law enforcement officers should also be protecting schools and school buses. Teachers, school bus drivers, and other school personnel should be offered the chance to carry concealed weapons on school grounds and school buses after completing training similar to what commercial pilots were offered after September 11, 2001. Most school attacks would be deterred by these measures, and those that are not would be met by force that would ultimately save innocent life.

Nashville's Disgraceful Mayor

Nashville apparently has a dishonest mayor with unbelievably poor judgement. Our mayor assured the public she would cooperate with an investigation that she is instead stonewalling. Nude photos of our mayor were allegedly snapped by her paramour. Nashville is being held up to an international audience, not for our tremendous growth or all the city has to offer, but for our embarrassing female version of Bill Boner.

Scared of Thunder?

Our dogs, since the Retriever died, have all been terrified of storms. Casey was not afraid to bark at a locomotive when we walked near the tracks. Bru is not frightened by a bus rolling past. Cassie would stand up to a roaming pack of mean dogs, but every single one of them cowers at the sound of thunder.

Still Poor Judgement

The national Democrat Party is pushing to extend the age that people are eligible to vote to sixteen. When I was sixteen, my friends and I used to "surf" on the roof of my Jeep Wagoneer. At that age, I was an idiot and so were many (if not most) of my peers. Lowering the voting age is a terrible idea.

Not for Thee

Many of the loudest voices pushing to ban your possession of guns are elites who are and always will be protected by a phalanx of armed bodyguards. These people are the most vile hypocrites in the world. Michael Bloomberg is a perfect example of this.

Rights Once Lost

If we forfeit our Second Amendment rights, they are likely gone forever. The Second Amendment was not about hunting. The Second Amendment was not simply about a militia (well-regulated or otherwise). It was conceived as the ultimate hedge against tyranny. So long as the government did not possess a monopoly of force, it could not become despotic. As long as the are armed free men in America, men here will remain free.

Fool Us Again

If we trade our freedom to possess firearms for safety, we will no longer have the guns we could use to defend ourselves and our loved ones, and we will not have security either.

Explain the Difference

How is Russians allegedly interfering in a US election worthy of criminal charges when Barack Hussein Obama trying to defeat Netanyahu in Israel's election is perfectly acceptable? America has tried for years to influence elections in other countries. Should the Americans who "interfered" in those elections be charged? Charging these Russians seems like a stunt to distract from the negligence of the FBI for failing to stop the Florida school shooter despite being warned in advance of his evil intentions.

Bit of Logic

How will banning the law-abiding from possessing guns stop criminals from having them? The whole premise of gun control is entirely illogical.

Rain or Flood

Life depends on water. Water is essential for survival. As necessary as water is, floods kill hundreds of people every year. Cape Town is at this very moment at risk of running out of water. California is apparently heading back into what seems almost perpetual drought. It is a shame that such an abundant resource as water becomes so scarce in certain places.

A Tad Manipulated

Maybe there was a bit of manipulation in the wild swings in US stock markets in the last few weeks. If so, that bodes ill for the individual investor who deserves a level playing field. With livelihoods at stake, the small investors needs to know that the game is not rigged against him.

A Vicious Cycle

People sell their stocks out of fear. They do not want to ride the value of their shares down to zero. Someone buys cheap and realizes the gain that a more stoic investor who held onto the shares could have realized.

Ever Been Broke

Have you ever really been broke? Have you ever had no idea where your next meal was going to come from? Have you ever had to walk for miles because you could not afford other transportation? Times are hard and for many, they are just getting harder.

Work for Food

That guy with the "Will Work for Food" sign was a Bitcoin millionaire a month ago! That lady selling her plasma was buying a new car just before the correction. I was actually about to buy a steak two weeks back, but now it's back to eating ramen noodles.

Surviving the Storms

No politician is going to save you from life's storms. Oprah and Dr. Phil don't have the answers. You can cling to your spouse, but that won't do the trick either. Ultimately, we will only be saved by the One that Made US.

An Iron Parachute

There are no soft landings in a stock market crash. There is no managed decline when investors lose that which they were counting on to live. First you miss your car payment, then your mortgage, then you find yourself at food bank. It takes a lifetime to build a fortune but only a bad week in stocks to see it disappear.

Dead Cat Splatter

US stocks may have surged far beyond their real value. The good thing with precious metals is their value never falls to nothing. You can't make a ring out of a stock certificate, but when it has lost all value, you can strike a match to it and use it to ignite your kindling.

What Goes Up

Stocks that recently surged have fallen like lead balloons. Some say the smart money buys on dips, but maybe the smart money is gun-shy right now. Are we in a twenty percent correction or the start of a 1929-style catastrophe right now?

Crash and Burn

It feels worse watching the value of the 401(k)s evaporate than it felt good watching them rise. The market gains were to Trump's credit because he lowered taxes and lessened regulation, but I don't see how the President is to blame for the losses.

Trains on Time

Benito Mussolini, as the leader of Italy's Fascists, made "the trains run on time". Despite President Trump's detractors calling him a Fascist, our President must not be because he has not made the trains run on time. Sadly, though it seems that the trains are running into each other.

A Super Bore

While a few Super Bowls have been closely contested, more often than not, the game turns out to be a blow out. Very few people like watching non-competitive games where one team simply dominates the other.

Doubt the Democrats

It strains credulity to think anyone but a blind partisan or a moron would believe President Trump or Republicans are attacking rank and file agents of the FBI or in any way compromising US intelligence gathering. Trump is saving the FBI by removing the rotten apples at the top of the barrel.

A False Flag

Maybe it wasn't Russians at all trying to manipulate US elections, but Hillary and Obama and their close confederates at the top of the FBI and surveillance state apparatus. The memo is being released today, and it sure looks like the culpable parties were not in Moscow at all but in the USA.

Bed of Serpents

Donald Trump campaigned that he was going to "drain the swamp" if he won the Presidency. Instead of following through with his campaign promises, Trump is betraying his supporters to make nice with the DC elite, who want to impeach him. Trump will never win the love and support of those who despise him, but he sure can lose his base, which could keep him in power, by pandering to illegal aliens.
