A Military Coup
Someone much wiser than I once said "if it swims like a duck, walks like a duck, flies like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck". The situation in Egypt seems obvious enough except to those engaged in willful self-deception. A democratically elected leader was deposed by the military, end of story, that is a coup by plain definition. Only through deliberate contrivance to avoid cutting off American assistance to the new regime would anyone in Washington say otherwise. Morsi was not good for most of the Egyptian people, but that should not entitle the Obama administration to once again skirt US law by calling the overthrow of a popularly elected leader by his own armed forces something other than a coup.
