A Snowbird Watcher
I have marveled all my life watching relatives and family friends consistently gripe about the weather in their Northern (Northeastern) home states and loudly state how they wished they were in "sunny Florida". They strove to retire down there and made plans to uproot from white winters to white beaches, from chattering teeth to golden tans, from the rush-rush of crowded commutes to the tranquility of senior communities. There is not one of them with whom I have spoken after the move that does not complain bitterly about the heat, the humidity, the swarming insects, and the swarm of Yankees, who all evidently shared the same dream of sunset years. They should have realized happiness is not about climate or locale but comes from within.
