Muammar Gaddafi was presumed to have looted Libya, but only now is the true degree of the pillage beginning to emerge. Most Libyans under the Gaddafi tyranny struggled at the survival level though regime confederates enjoyed the good life. The amount that Gaddafi actually stole is almost incomprehensible. If Paul Richter's report is not complete hyperbole, Gaddafi may have been the wealthiest individual the world has ever known.
