Waiting for Moderates

The world believes that the new leader of Iran Hassan Rouhani is cut from a different cloth than the former leaders of that Islamic Republic. I spoke with an ordinary Iranian last week who now resides in America, and from her perspective, Rouhani is just as bad as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was. I do not think a leader who wanted accommodation with the West and the United States or was willing to countenance the continuing existence of Israel as a Jewish State could have risen through the ranks of fanatic mullahs to power in a system premised on Shiite fundamentalism. The world can not let their guard down based on words alone and must carefully watch Iranian actions, and I do not think Rouhani has been dissuaded from building an atomic arsenal and fear only Israel has the will to prevent Iran from deploying nuclear weapons.
