For health and public safety, New York's former mayor insisted everyone in public must mask up. Now, after an unprecedented surge in crime that has been made easier for criminals who have their anonymity preserved by masks, the current mayor has woken up to the fact that universal mandatory masking did not actually protect anyone from COVID, but was in fact an invitation for a crime spree to kick off. Mayor Adams is rightly banning the masks in businesses. The face coverings offered little if any protection from viruses but are great disguises.
