The Nation Reeks
A "green job" used to be, in the recent past, off-the-books, one that bypassed withholding by paying cash. Green jobs predating the withholding tax were just that, employment as opposed, I suppose to apprenticeships, involuntary servitude (slavery), sharecropping, indenture as bond servant, conscripted labor of all sorts with (perhaps a bit green) or without compensation (not green at all). Obama is going to cure our unemployment metastasis with "green jobs"-these touchy-feely environmental do-gooder jobs that have no inherent reason to exist beyond a Federal mandate and/or subsidy. Horses used to be the primary mode of transportation in this country, and they left their natural byproduct in profusion on the streets of villages and the avenues of cities. I was not there but the country was obviously redolent with horse manure. The odor so permeated that people were grateful for the innovation of the gasoline powered engine that propelled vehicles with but a little smoke and fume rather than great piles of droppings. The automobile was a breakthrough for hygiene and cleaner living-once widely adopted, supplanting the horse and the nasty aftermath of horse traffic that dropped everywhere. We have a green socialist, if not a neo-fascist, directing our affairs. There are horse posteriors aplenty representing us in Washington and in our statehouses, and I daresay, our local districts. A Republican governor in South Carolina mortifies his poor wife (no one deserves what Sanford has done, not even a shrew like Hillary) and offends our values and sensibilities. If there was a natural market, for environmental jobs, they would exist already without the necessity for intervention by the statist running the state and his merry, steal from the public, henchmen. I no longer see a bunch of horses teeming the streets but when I am around politicians of both national parties, it sure seems like the horses are still running around here.
