When It Rains

Do you find it odd that on the rare occasions that it rains in a desert that the low-lying areas often flood? A wadi that can be bone-dry for five years can become a deathtrap in minutes. It is also amazing that people can survive in areas where monsoon rain falls for weeks at a time. If humankind could change the climate, those would be some good places to start.
