Evil but Credible

I watched Charlie Rose's interview of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. The most salient point the tyrant made was that if Barack Hussein Obama orders an attack on Syrian government forces, he will be siding with al-Qaeda against a "secular" regime. Assad is right that if American forces attack, they will be doing the bidding of Sunni Wahhabists, including al-Qaeda and their sympathizers. Assad is no gentle democrat but his forces were (as others have pointed out) winning at the time the (alleged) chemical attack occurred, making it at least possible that rebel forces might have launched the sarin gas attack themselves in the hope of drawing in Western forces to battle Assad on their behalf. If America launches a punitive strike with the Russian proposal to have the Assad regime's chemical weapons placed under international control on the table, Obama will have played into al-Qaeda's hands.
