Not Really Different

The saddest aspect of the Obamacare replacement debate is that only a handful of Republicans in the US House and three conservatives and one libertarian conservative in the US Senate do not take it that healthcare is a (new) entitlement. President Trump apparently believes healthcare is a universal right. In this aspect, the GOP mainstream and Democrats are in almost complete accord and we as a nation are careening toward single payer healthcare that will render America a socialist country and give our government sweepingly intrusive power. The government will soon have even more say over what we eat, drink, smoke, and drive. The government will have the ability to lavish care on favorites and deny care to dissidents. Universal care will be a lever to push more gun control. Single payer government rationed healthcare is the gateway to tyranny.
