Syria Versus Sanity

Did you ever think you would see Syrian Sunni elements associated with and sharing the same ideology as al-Qaeda cheering Israel for anything? Well that is purportedly just what is happening after the Israelis allegedly attacked Assad regime organs in and around Damascus from the air twice in the past few days. The saddest aspect of the Syria slaughter is that it has been absolutely unnecessary. Assad could long ago have abdicated and been granted sanctuary in a country sympathetic to him as the corrupt leader of Tunisia Zine el Abidine Ben Ali had the good sense to do back at the start of the Arab Spring. The seventy thousand (or more) deaths so far in Syria should have been avoided.
