Best Behind US

Tim Geithner, noted tax cheat and Treasury Secretary, said he was determined to overcome the normal economic cycle on Sunday. He said he wanted to prevent a "boom". I assume he wants a steady course, with an economy on an even keel without booms or busts. Yet, the Obama administration has not hesitated to disrupt the cycle which would have produced recovery if allowed to self-correct, by massive and unprecedented government spending by way of stimulus, new, more intrusive regulation of business including the cap and trade system Obama is pushing for, and even outright nationalization of financial (AIG) and automotive companies (Chrysler with GM soon likely to follow). If a national care system follows, the America we have known B.O. (Before Obama) may not be recoverable, even if Republicans or a third, conservative party manages to achieve office, even with the right retaking the House and Senate. So far as I am aware, once granted, no entitlement program has ever been taken away. Now may be the last chance to stop rationed care, and I am not sanguine that the will exists to stop this freedom-stealing, life-altering, death-hastening advance of government intrusion into all our lives. Obama may take your guns, but you will have a nice government provided health card in their place to monitor the most personal aspects of your life from STDs, to whether you smoke, to whether you or your children carry genetic diseases (or even genetic disease markers). I never realized there were so many fools willing to relinquish blood-earned liberty so fast.

Sweat the Details

We have become an unserious nation led by an unserious leader. I would say Obama is self-aggrandizing, but he need not be-he has the old-line media and brainwashed masses to shout his praises. Obama, who had said he would not go after Bush administration members and intelligence professionals for their efforts to extract information from al-Qaeda and Jihadi terrorists, turned on a dime and now says the US may prosecute the lawyers who said our tactics (used to protect the homeland) were legal. Our President is serious when it comes to settling scores with the right, but less so about our national security. Obama is haphazardly attacking the economic decline, not to reverse it but to use the recession as a pretext to impose socialism. The startling suicide yesterday of the acting CFO of Freddie Mac is not exactly a ringing endorsement of where Obama is taking the financial sector. Deliberate obfuscation by Geithner about TARP can not be seen as an inspiring vote of confidence about where Obama is leading us. Unfortunately, not enough citizens are waking up that Obama is not really concerned about helping the nation turn the corner and rise back to prosperity, only with entrenching himself and those who will continue to implement his policies in power forever.

Corrupt and Corrupting

Yet another member of the Obama Cabinet has a tax problem. After issues arose with Secretary of Treasury Tim Geithner and were deemed so severe with Tom Daschle that he withdrew his name from nomination, former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk had to deal with his own tax troubles as he is seeking to become US trade representative. This administration was supposed to be the most ethical-this was the Obama campaign claim. Obama's cadres are proving to be as or more tainted than any administration in our history. This goes straight to the top to the largely unreported and therefore almost forgotten Rezko scandal. But malfeasance is not the only or anywhere near the main problem. The back breaker is the culture of dependency that Obama is perpetuating and growing to unprecedented levels. He is creating a all-encroaching government where we will all become wards of the state. He is bailing out the shiftless and punishing those who work and save. What incentive is there to labor diligently when government will steal the fruits of those labors? A tax increase in the teeth of recession, a cap and trade carbon limiting scheme, and a national health system will subdue any prospect of recovery. Reversing the welfare reform that has proven so effective by taking people from the dole to gainful employment (passed under Clinton), will not show compassion but remove initiative. Why work when the government punishes those who do with progressive tax rates penalizing increased success, when you can sit back and wait for your government check? Why sweat to pay your mortgage, if your neighbor who didn't will receive a hand from Uncle Sam (Ho Chibama) to stay in his house? With sugar daddy Barack in office, only suckers work hard.

The Indispensable Man

Tim Geithner is evidently so crucial that the nation can not survive without him. The loyal opposition, otherwise known as the Republican rubber stamp, is set to approve the tax cheat's nomination to head Treasury. God forbid that Geithner chokes on a fish bone, is hit by a streetcar, or has insatiable craving for salmonella peanut crunch, we are all doomed. Can America not produce a competent leader for the Department of Treasury who does not enter under a cloud? Why is the GOP so docile and compliant with the socialist Obama, falling in line on every initiative with hardly a peep? This man will enjoy unprecedented control of a trillion or more dollars, yet he has already shown he is not worthy of our trust.

No Conservative Party

There was a robust and growing conservative movement that was marked by the Gingrich revolution and the ascension of Republicans to lead the US House of Representatives in 1994. The rise of the Republicans was catalyzed by embracing the concepts of originalist intent in matters Constitutional and limited government everywhere but national defense. State and municipal leaders would bring the decision-making process closer to the people, with local control dictating how tax dollars would be spent. Republicans even floated the idea of eliminating the Federal Department of Education as those closest to the schools would best know how to direct them. States' rights would be sacrosanct. Bush Forty-three (as opposed to Chuck Foreman forty-four) never governed as a movement conservative as President and by the end of his second term, was more or less, a socialist. There were only a few dozen consistent conservatives in the Republican ranks in the Congress. Can these few right-wing stalwarts muster enough support to thwart Obama's Utopian and anti-Constitutional measures? Will they stand against the lionized and lauded schemer to protect free-market capitalism? A few bold outriders will speak up in opposition, but Obama will carry the day, and at best, we will live under benevolent Western-European style socialism with immense tax burdens and diminished freedom. At worst and my impulse says this is the despotic direction, we will have an American version of Hugo Chavez who will trash the Constitution and with many willing accomplices, including the judicial elite, essentially rule by fiat after silencing right-wing talk radio and either outright seizing guns and ammunition or imposing so many regulations and taxes on the Second Amendment right as to make it moot. If the Senate rubber stamps tax cheat Geithner to run Treasury and gun-banner Holder to run Justice, on what issue will they rally their courage to slow Obama down? Answer: they won't.
