Life for Looters?
I heard someone saying in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, looters should be given life sentences. I think if they live to enter a prison, they are getting off light.

Harvey Lashes Louisiana
With Texas still reeling, Louisiana is now being hit by Harvey. There at least, after having to contend with Katina, the authorities should have plenty of experience in protecting human life from such a storm.

The Hidden Danger
Most people probably have never heard of an electromagnetic pulse weapon. North Korea moves closer every day to producing a weapon that could take out America's power grid and virtually all the technology that now runs everything in a single strike. If North Korea successfully launches such an attack on the United States, hundreds of millions could die. While I never want to see war, I would rather have Pyongyang obliterated in a massive preemptive first strike than have my country destroyed.

Houston Washed Away
People have died in the flooding in Texas. There have been billions of dollars in damage. I have never heard of a city sustaining fifty inches of rain in a few days. It really seems to be a Biblical cataclysm. Texans need our support and our prayers.

Slow Motion Disaster
In Hurricane Harvey, like Hurricane Katrina, just because the winds died down, the danger is not over. Texas needs our help and prayers now more than ever.

Recovering from Harvey
There is certainly damage in the billions from the hurricane. Many want to help, but I caution there are many who would take advantage of our generosity to line their own pockets. When you give, please give only to reputable charities. The money you give will go to those in need, rather than scammers who only want to help themselves.

Hurricane from Hell
I was aghast back in 1980 when Mount St. Helens erupted that people ignored evacuation orders at the cost of their own lives. More recently,I recall many of those who ignored evacuation orders during Hurricane Katrina wound up dead. Let us hope Texans realized how dangerous Hurricane Harvey could be and got out safely.

How Many Tweets
How many "Tweets" make a President successful? I do recall all the marvelous ones from Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln- how about FDR and Reagan and their unifying "Tweets"- I think it may be time, for President Trump to slow down on "Tweets" and focus on governing.

Time of Peace
With all the civil unrest, Americans might be forgiven for forgetting that we are still fighting wars in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. We are occasionally bombing targets in Africa as well.

Hacking Our Ships
I wonder if Red Chinese or North Korean hackers have a hand in sabotaging the navigation controls of US warships. It is a bizarre coincidence that there have been two fatal collisions between US Navy vessels and merchant ships in recent weeks. Our seamanship can not possibly be that bad without a "little help" from our enemies.

Not Eclipse Ready
I have not dug out a bomb shelter, built an ark, or stockpiled a century's worth of non-perishable food yet, so surely I will die during tomorrow's eclipse. I hope the rest of you have made all the strategic preparations, so you fare better than this lazy squirrel.

Reality Show Presidency
While I bet more than ninety percent of Americans have no idea of who Steve Bannon is, I am disappointed to see him go. I am greatly disappointed that President Trump has more Obama holdovers around than conservatives that he has brought into government. I am terribly distressed that almost all the President's advisors now are big government progressives.

Not Succeeded Either
It is impossible for President Trump to repeal Obamacare and fully implement his growth agenda with members of his own party acting as the opposition in the US Senate. I certainly do not blame the President though, I blame the spineless turncoats like McCain of Arizona, Graham of South Carolina, and Corker of Tennessee.

Not Failed Yet
People that never liked or supported President Trump are now saying because of events in Virginia that have nothing to do with Trump that his Presidency is over. They could not be more wrong. These naysayers are deliberately taking what Trump said about those for or against removing statues of Confederates out of context. He said "there were fine people on both sides" about the proposed removal. He was not saying there are "fine people" among the Nazis and Ku Klux Klan. The President has numerous Jews in his own family and certainly does not have sympathy for Nazis.

Retreat or Charge
No battle was ever won by those running away from it. I like President Trump refusing to be cowed and continuing to tell the truth about Antifa.

Why Vilify Bannon
Washington elite, the mainstream press, and even some former Trump insiders are trying to crucify Steve Bannon. They are doing this because Bannon knows the populist pulse of the American people and they do not want those workaday Americans to have Trump's ear or a voice in DC.

Honor the Constitution
I am Jewish. Some of my family members were murdered by the Nazis. I absolutely despise Nazis. I am reading friends' social media posts saying that Nazis must not be allowed to speak in America. While I agree that what Nazis say is reprehensible, I have to say that those calling for depriving them of that right have little understanding of the US Constitution. Only controversial speech needs Constitutional protection. If I say "nice weather we're having", no one is going to try to stifle my speech. If I say "I love pasta", no one will try to silence me. If I say something utterly objectionable like "Hitler was right", many people might try to deny my right to speak. It is precisely that kind of inflammatory agitation that necessitates the First Amendment. To love the Constitution, occasionally means tolerating those with no tolerance for our values.

Cooler Heads Prevail
Can you tell me the last time the well-reasoned argument defeated the clinched fist or the gun?

Something of Rome
Is America an empire, led by bombast, in its last days? If North Korea is allowed to keep nuclear weapons, the US as world leader is a thing of the past.
Friday, August 11, 2017
War or Peace
The US must declaw the nuclear capacity of North Korea or be subject to extortion by the Pyongyang regime. It really is that simple.

The Water's Edge
I had always heard "politics stop at the water's edge" meaning that America would present a unified foreign policy. I was aghast when I heard Democrats blaming President Trump for the situation in North Korea. At this time, the US most needs a united front, Democrats and their main stream media mouthpieces are not attacking the North Korean despot but their own President.

North Korea War
I fear a shooting war will break out between the US and North Korea. Neither side is bluffing. I feel sorry for the millions of oppressed North Koreans who are about to die because they are hostage to the fanatical regime in Pyongyang.

Chavistas in America
Huge swathes of today's Democrat leadership would gladly turn the United States into a "socialist paradise" like the one we see in Venezuela today. These Democrats are nothing like JFK or even Ed Koch. They hate achievers and want to tax them out of existence. How many times has a poor person hired you? If you put confiscatory taxes on the wealthy, they can not create the private sector employment they otherwise would and private sector employment has always stood a better chance of enriching people than anything "planned economies" have ever produced.

Death by Dictatorship
Is it not astoundingly sad that in Venezuela with tremendous natural resources, the socialist despots have ruined the country so badly that people are literally starving to death? Venezuela has some of the largest proven oil reserves in the world. There is no reason beyond atrocious mismanagement by government that Venezuelans should suffer the type of privation they have been forced to endure.

Pity the Venezuelans
Socialists have ruined Venezuela. They have stolen the freedom of the people. Now, these socialists murder to stay in power.

A Failed Senate
I would not say Trump has a "failed Presidency". I would say that Republicans in the US Senate have not lived up to their promises. Those GOP Senators who let the country down need to be defeated in primaries by real conservatives.

One Way Cooperation
US Senators of both parties seem willing to work together, so long as it hurts President Trump and stymies his agenda. Huge majorities of Americans support the President on immigration, but instead of building walls and closing borders, US Senators are still pushing for an amnesty for illegal aliens.

Filled With Hate
There is little goodwill toward the opposition anymore in American politics. When you see your opponent as the devil incarnate, there is little chance you will work together for the benefit of America.

Reality Star Reality
During the campaign, now President Trump was characterized as a non-ideological pragmatist by Rush Limbaugh. I think that was good analysis. Trump was and is no ardent right winger. Trump has been demonized by many, and clearly does have a "huge" ego, but he has been governing as a moderate.

How Much Higher
Washington elite from both parties are trying to tamp down Trump. The Federal Reserve that propped up Obama and his socialism is trying to knock down economic growth so Trump receives no accolades. The Wall Street press and supposed wizards like Greenspan are trying to knock the legs from the Trump stock rally, but so far all have failed because less regulation really means more economic freedom which always stimulates growth.
