Goodbye Aunt Pauline

We are burying my extraordinary great-aunt today in Nashville. Pauline Cohen Nussbaum had her own radio show as a singer when she was only twelve years old. She was the first woman from the South to join the Marine Corps in World War II. She was chased off islands by the Japanese and she served both Admiral Spruance and Admiral Nimitz. Her oldest sister Bertie was the secretary to Secretary of the Navy and former Chicago newspaper man Frank Knox (and after the war, worked for Edward R. Morrow). These wonderful woman packed a lot into their ninety plus years.
