Disabuse the Notion

The idea that conservatives in any way endorse police brutality is farcical. Only authentic Nazis and/or psychopaths are not horrified by what befell George Floyd. Any person with a soul is appalled by injustice, and what happened to Floyd was a travesty that deserves swift and certain justice.

The New "BC"

Do you fondly recall those grand old days when you could join the crowd to dine at your favorite bistro? That was BC. Do you miss the music blaring at the rock concert you could not wait to attend with thousands of strangers? That was so BC. Do you yearn for your seat at the packed stadium to root your Titans to victory? That was BC as well. In fact just about everything you enjoyed doing is now a thing of the past. You could live life with all its joy way back in February but that is long past. You could do all that but no more. Those heretofore normal pursuits are gone because they were permissible only "Before COVID-19", our new and horrible "BC".

Relieve Esper Now

Mark Esper has overstepped his authority. President Trump does not work for the Secretary of Defense, and is NOT answerable to Esper. Everyone in the chain of command up to Esper is subject to his direction, but Esper is the President's subordinate and should be fired immediately for his gratuitous insubordination!

Such Breathtaking Hypocrisy

What happened to George Floyd was outrageous. What happens with black on black violence across America is an abomination, but nobody goes out on the streets to protest that internecine carnage. No sane or decent person wants police abusing the citizenry, but vastly more African-Americans murder each other across the country in a month than police kill in a year and almost all those police killings turn out to have been absolutely justified. A lot of greedy folks are using the Floyd tragedy as cover to loot. A lot of people who hate Trump are exploiting Floyd'd death as a way to defeat the President.

No to Reparations

I see a prominent African-American businessman wants blacks to receive fourteen trillion dollars in reparations for slavery. This is an odious notion and could be seen by some as an attempt at extortion. My progenitors were hiding from pogroms in Europe until long after all the slaves had been freed. I do not see Russia paying me anything because my ancestors lived under the yoke of murderous antisemitism. If the African-American community is going to receive that monumental sum, how about a few trillion to the Irish who faced merciless discrimination, and Catholics in general who were despised and discriminated against by the KKK, and those of German ancestry who faced persecution during World War I? What about Latino Americans who were treated awfully, do they not deserve their payday too? As a Jewish American, I know my family could not check into certain hotels, join various clubs, or go to universities beyond a strict and low quota number. Will Jews be paid? Actually, it is all ludicrous. We can not be trapped in our collective past, but have to move forward together as AMERICANS!

Three Easy Steps

If you want to destroy my hometown Nashville, Tennessee or turn our thriving metropolis into a failed city like Detroit, you can do it with surprising ease. First, let us close almost all small business and our major tourist attractions that heretofore had brought visitors from all over the world for a couple of months based on wildly inaccurate modeling and fear-mongering. Then, raise our property tax here against the clear will of the voters, after you have stripped many of them of their earnings for a good portion of the year. Lastly, allow chaos and anarchy to reign in the streets with some enterprises which had survived the lock down, now being destroyed by looters. That is a great way to finish Nashville off and that is just what government here has done to the people.

None of Either

At the moment, I see neither justice nor peace, but my perspective is diametrically opposed to the rioters. How do you honor the memory of George Floyd by stealing anything? How does it bring peace to beat the daylights out of white people who happen to be out when you decide to loot or who are actually trying to protect themselves or others or their own property? We have heard "no justice no peace" for years, but fair treatment has to be universal, not just for African-Americans.
