City Belt Tightening
Los Angeles saved more than seventeen million dollars at the front end by cutting the fire department budget only to lose one hundred and fifty billion dollars at the back end in California's most costly blaze so far. More importantly, to this point, the inferno has killed at least ten people, and before this firestorm erupted, Mayor Bass proposed cutting forty-nine million dollars more from the firefighters. A better idea that the suicidal reductions to public safety might be to recall one blatantly incompetent mayor.
