The Next Variant

Has the mortality rate of COVID increased? If so, does that not necessarily mean the vaccines have not worked? After all, more people are vaccinated each day, so logic would dictate that less people should be dying, not more. In point of fact, more people have died under Biden with the vaccines widely administered than died under Trump first with no vaccine available and then with only a nascent program of inoculation. I do not care which "variant" is threatening lives. We can not shut our economy and hide in our houses no matter what the variant is.
