My off the boat Jewish great grandmother Eva Sholiton Cohen ("Nana") said we should kiss the ground to be in safe and free America rather than in fear of Cossacks and the Tsar she grew up in before fleeing Russia. Watching the recent paroxysm of violence directed against Jews on the streets of America would shock Nana. Every decent American, Jew and Gentile alike, should demand that those who assaulted Jews in the US must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and that Jews deserve to be able to conduct their lives in America free from the terror they routinely faced in the Old World.
