Another Rainy Trip

It seems I brought a couple of inches of rain with me to sunny Orlando.

Not Credible Person

Would you buy a used car from Hillary Clinton? I would not either- so why would you vote for her for President?

Winning on Wednesday

Donald Trump certainly seems to have the momentum in the Presidential race. Hillary can not even seem to put Bernie away.

Not Just Speculation

Logic informed most that the probable cause of the jet crash was terrorism. I have to hand it to Trump that he did not engage in politically-correct equivocation, but right away definitively declared that terror was the likely cause.

The Write Time

Since 2008, just before the US Presidential election, I have been working on this blog. My heart has not been in it much since August 15, when my wife locked me out of our condo. I have only seen our baby daughter six times for a total of around ten hours since then. Please bear with me if my output lags because my mind is somewhere else.

Our Gun Rights

While Trump is not ideal on the Second Amendment, he is surely better than Hillary.

A Free Trip

Would you accept a free trip to Egypt right now? I love the Egyptian culture and history, but visiting a pyramid or seeing the sphinx is not worth my life. I know ninety-plus percent of Egyptians welcome and would try to protect foreign tourists, but the small percentage of jihadi radicals who welcome death would dissuade me from visiting now. Maybe, the good and decent Egyptians can vanquish the murderous evil ones, but they certainly have not been able to subdue them yet.

Another Terror Outrage

A commercial passenger jet that was bound for Egypt from Paris was brought down by what was almost certainly not an accident but an intentional act. This could have been an act of murder by a suicidal pilot as we have seen at least twice in the past. It could have been a successful invasion of the cockpit by jihadists. In any event, it is a terrible tragedy that will disuade many from visiting Egypt and some from even flying.

The Frontline Whitewash

The leftist propagandists that run PBS Frontline just did a feature on the rise of the Islamic State. Since the producers are ardent Leftists, they carefully left out any mention of Hillary Clinton in the whole program. They mentioned her one-time boss Obama a bit, but mostly placed the blame for the rise of the Islamic State on Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby. In the interest of fairness, Libya, where Hillary and Team Obama orchestrated the overthrow of Qaddafi and allowed (caused) the rise of a failed state, should have been mentioned because it is an Islamic State stronghold just as much as parts of Syria and Iraq. Of course, Libya was ignored in the Frontline production because mention of it would have looked bad for the former Secretary of State who is seeking the Presidency.

What a Fool

I actually wasted much of my life concerned for the welfare of others!

Know Your Strengths

I used to be a positive, optimistic person, and believed tomorrow could always be a better day//But then cold stark reality drifted in to overwhelm that illusion// I may have once thought myself smarter than some, but that was only arrogance- my best trait, then and now

No- Your Limits

This "age of innocence" that never was, that never will be// Because it is against our nature; there are no "better angels"// Only us with our few virtues and many vices. Own your shortcomings for surely they own you as mine own me// No your limits aren't mine- I never made it that far

A Sunny Sunday

Real and Fake

Hillary is a real shrew whose speeches always remind me of fingernails raking a chalkboard. Trump is a chameleon who flipflops like an aluminum can on a freeway.

Sadness on Saturday

I hope to attend Cathy Fleming's memorial shortly. She lived more in forty-eight years than many people could shoehorn into ten lifetimes.

Not Voting For

I may cast a vote for Trump, but only reluctantly, as a vote against Hillary.

Pity the Voters

We have a Hobson's choice between Clinton and Trump. Which corrupt progressive do you want?

The Wrong Choice

Donald Trump is a populist demagogue. He is also an egomaniac and an unbelievably crass conspiracy theorist.

Goodbye Aunt Pauline

We are burying my extraordinary great-aunt today in Nashville. Pauline Cohen Nussbaum had her own radio show as a singer when she was only twelve years old. She was the first woman from the South to join the Marine Corps in World War II. She was chased off islands by the Japanese and she served both Admiral Spruance and Admiral Nimitz. Her oldest sister Bertie was the secretary to Secretary of the Navy and former Chicago newspaper man Frank Knox (and after the war, worked for Edward R. Morrow). These wonderful woman packed a lot into their ninety plus years.

Lost a Friend

My friend and high school classmate Catherine Fleming has died at a far too young forty-eight. She leaves behind two remarkably smart, talented, and beautiful daughters, and millions of wonderful memories from those who knew her. She was a meteor blazing across the sky, whose light shone brightly but went out far too fast.
