The Mugabe Machine

Machine politics have been bad in Chicago for generations, but they do not hold a candle to the way things are done in Zimbabwe. Robert Mugabe has silenced the opposition press, attacked and even killed political opponents and their supporters, and now at nearly ninety years of age, this bloody-handed, white-hating dictator will use one hundred thousand voters discovered to be one hundred years old or older to steal another election. In what some would call a "miracle", Mugabe will be reelectd by dead people.

Comedy in Chattanooga

Barack Hussein Obama embarked on his "economic salvation" tour with his first stop today in my home state of Tennessee in Chattanooga. Five years into his misrule, Obama decides on a semi-Socialist solution to the economic stagnation that his own policies (or anticipation of those policies) caused. Another stimulus program to create "middle class" jobs will fail just as miserably as Obama's last so-called stimulus did. If the initial infusion did not work, what is different about this proposal that will allow it to succeed. The definition of insanity has been cast as doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. Let us hope Congress is not crazy enough to accept Obama's latest sales pitch.

Watching Israel Implode

The Jewish State just released one hundred and four (104) Palestinian terrorists, including many who had participated in the murder of Israeli non-combatants. This foolhardy error was made by Israel's leaders under US and world pressure to lure Palestinians back to the negotiating table where Israel will be forced to make even more concessions, including giving up the Biblical heartland of the country for no peace and no prospect that Arabs will ever give up the goal of ridding the territory of Jews, no matter how conciliatory Netanyahu and his turncoats become in the talks restarting now. Maybe the "elected leaders" of Israel fear that the beleaguered little Jewish enclave surrounded by fanatical Muslims who are willing to die simply to kill innocent Jews can no longer withstand the badgering by Obama and his appendage Kerry along with the opprobrium of the rest of the world (that Shoah-perpetrating or permitting entity that has always been so warm and welcoming and fair with Jews in previous history) now that it has become clear that America will not have Israel's back in her existential struggle.

The Rooting Section

The mainstream media continues to push the advance of the Leftist/progressive agenda. On the dinosaur press scorecard, everything good that happens in the country is to the credit of Barack Hussein Obama and all the headwinds that slow progress are the result of conservatives (including the TEA Party- who the legacy media disgustingly and disparagingly call "tea baggers") standing in the way of Obama moving us forward. In fact, any recovery in the US economy has taken place in spite of the President and not because of him. Obama's paid liar Jack Lew came to preach to his handmaiden media choir on the Sunday morning shows to denounce GOP "obstructionism" as the stumbling block to an improved economy and the rubber stamp flacks posing as journalists ate it up. The impediment to economic growth is the son of a Kenyan in the White House.

Bloodbath in Egypt

Sadly, massive casualties serve the purpose of Morsi supporters who are more than willing to die to present the image of a brutal military coup that swept to power with force and is ruling through violence. Martyrs gladly trade their lives because they see it as service to Allah to bring the Muslim Brotherhood back into power. If the world is gulled into making the new Egyptian regime into a pariah, and exert enough international pressure that the Muslim fundamentalists return to control Egypt, the world will have created a Sunni version of the Shia horror state that is Iran. America and the West may have to bite their tongues and bide their time until enough of the Islamist furor is dissipated that secularists retain control of the mechanisms of power, even if it means many more are killed before Cairo returns to stability.

Morsi and Murder

The horse the Obama administration decided to back to rule Egypt, Mohamed Morsi, turned out to be less than beloved by the Egyptian people. If those who replaced him prove their charge in Egypt's courts, Morsi may turn out to be worse than Hosni Mubarak, the despised dictator Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood allies usurped.

An "Animal Shelter"?

I have always wondered how an institution dares to call itself an "animal shelter" if it kills the cats and dogs it can not rapidly re-home. More appropriately, such a place should call itself what it really is- a "pound". That may not be politically-correct these days but that is what these facilities really are, kill pounds or truthfully, slaughterhouses for unwanted pets.

The Next Mayor

If New Yorkers elect Anthony Weiner as their next leader, they will have a mayor who is clearly willing to share everything with the public- and I mean everything. Even the most jaded must realize Weiner is not fit to serve.

The Royal Baby

Much of the world waited with bated breath for the arrival of the "royal baby". Is it not a tragedy beyond words that the fifty million babies who were legally murdered by abortionists in the United States just since Roe v Wade did not have a similar welcome awaiting them as they came into the world?

Heart for America

Hearing Ted Cruz on one of the Sunday shows was an inspiration. Cruz reminded me of Ronald Reagan with his obviously heartfelt upbeat love of America as she was founded and his dedication to reverse the nation's current crumbling course to preserve our Founding Ethos and sacred liberty. If Cruz seeks the Presidency in 2016, he would have my enthusiastic support.

Ronald Reagan's Sundae

I was not aware until this morning's news that today is National Ice Cream Day, and that it was initiated by the first President I ever voted for, Ronald Wilson Reagan. The celebration today should be much more popular than LBJ's legendary National Ipecac Day, which never really popularized the emetic except in certain sororities where thin is still chic.

Did You Know?

After securing his second term by having those who conceal his true face with the image he and they want projected of a cool-headed moderate, the real Barack Hussein Obama revealed himself speaking to reporters yesterday as he has done only three times before since he entered national public life. The first slip of the carefully crafted facade was when Obama blurted out to supporters in San Francisco without knowing he was being recorded his bitter clingers remark about guns, religion, and "antipathy" to those who are different from them. The second was when Obama let on that he was a classic redistributionist in his "Joe the plumber" gaffe. Both of these revelations occurred before Obama gained the Presidency. The third time was after Obama's election when he defamed American law enforcement with his "police acted stupidly" in the wake of the Cambridge clash that led to the so-called beer summit, when Obama realized he would have to stand for election again back in 2009. Obama's Trayvon talk yesterday demonstrate that he is a captive to race grievance with the same hostility toward non-African-Americans that we have long seen from Al Sharpton. I doubt if he had to stand for a free and fair election again, Obama with his broad brush accusation of racism against fellow Americans, in yesterday's Trayvon Martin musings, would have maligned so many fair-minded American people who have never looked at life through a racial prism.

America's Detroit City

The nation is taking the largest municipal bankruptcy in our history in stride. Cynics might say this outcome was inevitable as Detroit was afflicted with a bad case of Democrats. Remember though, that same disease is now rampant in Washington, and that the illness of progressive Republicanism may end up being just as destructive.

Fraught with Fear

One of our dogs was sick today which is the reason for such a late posting. "Cassie", our Keeshond-Chow mix was manifesting some of the same symptoms that previous dogs had during what turned out to be terminal illnesses. Thank the Lord at this point, our eleven(ish) year old rescue seems only to be battling messy Giardia. I have been cleaning up all day what too many of our politicians are spewing. Let us hope the vet is right and a few pills cure what ails her. As for our representatives in DC, it will take more than Imodium to heal the nation they are breaking.

The Circling Vultures

Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton, and Al Sharpton have been proverbially circling Trayvon Martin's corpse. For the shameless Holder, he wants to advance the cause of gun control and limit the natural right of self-defense. Hillary is advancing her political aspirations on the moldering body. And Al Sharpton is still trying to instigate the race problem that has garnered him notoriety and plum jobs in broadcasting by metaphorically waving the bloody shirt. I hope these cretins fail in their attempt to divide America by race to cynically advance themselves.

Pilot or Pirate

Tennessee's Republican governor Bill Haslam springs from the family that runs the Pilot Travel Centers. The Federal government has investigated this company for impropriety and evidently extracted settlements. I now wonder if the prosecution of Pilot was at least partially politically-motivated as we saw in the case of Gibson Guitars or if members of the Governor's family might actually be culpable in a civil or even criminal matter.

No "Open Season"

Contrary to claims by leftist activists including an AP reporter, there is no "open season" on black children in America, unless as we see in Chicago, the hunters are other black youth. George Zimmerman was not hunting African-Americans but trying to protect his community as a watch leader when he spotted a person he did not recognize on that fateful night. If Martin had not escalated the situation, he would likely still be alive today.

Judging the Verdict

I had reserved judgement on the Trayvon Martin trial until all the evidence was presented. After assessing the facts, I was pained to conclude that while the tragedy could have been avoided had George Zimmerman complied with the 911 operator's admonition and not followed Trayvon, that when violence ensued, Trayvon was the aggressor. Zimmerman put himself in the position where force was necessary by doing something stupid and not complying with dispatcher instructions, but stupid does not equal criminal. I imagine if Trayvon had known Zimmerman was carrying a gun, he never would have jumped him, but the youth's untimely demise was ultimately brought on because he forced George Zimmerman to defend his life.

On to Corker

Tennessee's other Republican US Senator Bob Corker is just as obnoxious to movement conservatives as Lamar Alexander. Corker has no affinity for heartland voters who reject amnesty under any other name. While construction and corporate farms relish the cheap labor that has flooded across the Southern border, most Tennesseans recognize that America is rapidly being turned into a nation our Founding Fathers would abhor. Corker does not stand for election in the coming cycle like Alexander and figures the electorate will forget his fingerprints on the Obama immigration bill by the time his turn to lie for votes comes around. If amnesty passes, thank Corker for it when he asks for your support.

All About Fishing

Republican in name only (RINO) Lamar Alexander has launched his campaign for reelection to the US Senate with an advertisement on how he went to bat for the rights of fishermen who wanted to cast their lines near Corps of Engineer dams. All good and well for the few thousand sportsmen the Federal government was going to restrict, but what of the millions of Americans hurt by the global warming regulations RINO Alexander supports? What about the open-border amnesty Alexander is pushing that will depress wages and alter our character as a nation? I only wish a real conservative could emerge to defeat the pretender in the plaid shirt who would seem more at home with his K Street lobbyists in sharkskin suits. Alexander may claim to represent the interests of Tennessee, but he is DC through and through.

A Summer's Fall

Barack Hussein Obama with his exotic heritage and upbringing and non-interventionist ethos of "leading from behind", abdicating the US strategic imperative, and allowing international multilateral bodies especially the United Nations to dictate America's posture abroad was supposed to make America more beloved than ever around the world, particularly after what was portrayed as muscular, shoot from the hip cowboy foreign policy in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. With Obama in the Oval Office with his Muslim birth father from Kenya and Indonesian Muslim stepfather was supposed to be beloved on the Arab and more broadly, the Muslim Street. In point of fact, after five years, the overt hostility the US State Department, America's ambassador to Egypt, and Obama himself were subjected to by the anti-Morsi demonstrators show that the United States is no longer loved or even feared by those on the Arab Street, including by those educated Westward-looking Arabs who one would have thought would have at least rhetorically embraced an American leader with such a pedigree. Obama was also presumed to be the President to bridge the gap between the races in the homeland itself. Look at the Trayvon Trial and the amount of venom spewed by certain African-Americans about seeking revenge by killing white people who have nothing to do with the event and see how Obama has united Americans. Barack Obama only reached the elevated perch his most ardent supporters place him on in their leader-can-do-no-wrong minds as every aspect of domestic and foreign affairs Obama aimed to improve are worse now than they were under George W. Bush who was supposedly reviled.

A Stormy Spring

So much hope was engendered by the Arab Spring, but now, that seems like a squandered promise. Syria has turned into a charnel house and Egypt is turning into Syria. What democracy looks like in most of the Middle East seems to be a battlefield. I am afraid the violence is not peculiar to Damascus and Cairo but will infiltrate everywhere the people are allowed an honest vote because the majority of the people will vote in Islamist candidates who will employ their new found power to take away human rights. Islamists only need to win one election to strip freedom and will always use the mechanisms of democracy to attack the principles of democracy itself.

Returning Egypt's Stability

Egypt needs to find a leader who is incorruptible, who keeps the fast during Ramadan, who has made the Hajj, and prays five times a day. This man must not be a stooge of the West or a pawn of the East, but must always place the Egyptian people first. This leader must protect the rights of minorities including Egypt's Christians. If such a man has ever existed anywhere, he has never emerged in the history of the Arab or Muslim world.

The Brotherhood Massacred

In an event where many innocent people were killed, it is possible that both the Egyptian military and those agitating to return Morsi to power are all telling the truth. The vast majority in the crowd backing the Muslim Brotherhood could have been absolutely peaceful. That does not mean that there were not armed jihadists among the civilians who were determined to free Morsi from his captivity or even willing to die to provoke a bloody confrontation in hopes of sparking a civil war. I have no doubt that one man wanting to martyr himself could unleash the hell of civil war across Egypt just like the carnage we are seeing splitting Syria.

A Military Coup

Someone much wiser than I once said "if it swims like a duck, walks like a duck, flies like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck". The situation in Egypt seems obvious enough except to those engaged in willful self-deception. A democratically elected leader was deposed by the military, end of story, that is a coup by plain definition. Only through deliberate contrivance to avoid cutting off American assistance to the new regime would anyone in Washington say otherwise. Morsi was not good for most of the Egyptian people, but that should not entitle the Obama administration to once again skirt US law by calling the overthrow of a popularly elected leader by his own armed forces something other than a coup.

Rain Time Again

Since May 2010 and my hometown Nashville Tennessee's epic flood, I have been inundated by record rains in Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, Kentucky, and now massive rains in Nashville again. I should travel to drought-afflicted areas around the globe; I may bring my travelling monsoon with me.

A Transparent Ploy

Barack Hussein Obama has delayed the onset of the Affordable Care Act (better known as Obama Care) for businesses until after the 2014 mid-Presidential term elections. Implementation for individuals will not be postponed, but businesses and by extension, their employees and their customers who will be paying higher prices to pay for newly engendered and higher health costs will be spared the pain until after Democrats have their crack at winning the US House of Representatives and controlling every branch of the Federal government.

Suez Canal Threat

A huge concern with tumult in Egypt is maintaining the access to and security of the Suez Canal. Egypt is not a major producer of oil but much of the region's petroleum does transit through the Canal. Any number of radical forces would love to injure the welfare of the Egyptian people and push the cost of gasoline up all over the world by sabotaging the easier route that man-made marvel provides. Further international intervention in Egypt might ensue if the Suez Canal comes under threat.

Worst Case Egypt

Morsi leading Egypt meant Islamist triumphalism as national policy. Al-Qaeda, with its nihilistic aggression, is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood from which Morsi also sprung. The Muslim Brothers are pragmatists though who practice taqiyya to gain and hold power and to try to boost their international standing. This in no way makes the Brothers a force for good, but an even more evil force is simmering in Egypt and could grow in power. This force is the Salafi movement which wants to return the Islamic world to a seventh century world of literal Koranic law where modernism is essentially proscribed and no compromise can be made with the infidel. Morsi is bad for the Egyptian people and the world, but Salafists would be even worse.

Wednesday, July 3, 2013

Better or Worse

With the tumult rocking Egypt, a new government could emerge in Cairo. If Morsi is forced out, the military might rule as a caretaker until elections are held, or could maintain power for itself. The Egyptian people in any election are likely to support Islamist candidates, and virtually all candidates who could draw popular support are anti-West, adamantly against America, and determined to destroy Israel as a Jewish state. In any fair election, Egyptians will vote themselves another sharia-based dictatorship because Muslim belief demands submission and while achieved in a popular vote and through democracy of a sort, this submission will always be incompatible with human freedom.

The Horse Butchers

Barack Hussein Obama won the US Presidency with the American Left convinced he was the answer. Animal rights proponents were generally heartened that a mean, old Republican had been defeated and a like-thinking Democrat would hold the nation's highest office and would defend animals with executive power. Well, Obama has pushed the "Green Agenda" and as a result, the United States has never had more windmills constructed to generate electricity (of which, they are not a reliable source), but my oh my, they do a wonderful job of extinguishing avain life, including many birds considered endangered. Then, there is Obama's commitment to be the science President. Obama has backed the sham science of man-caused global warming, but has ended the real science-gathering force of manned flight launched by NASA, as Obama ended the Space Shuttle program with no American replacement, leaving the US dependent on foreign-launchers, primarily Russia, to carry American astronauts into space. Obama has just allowed another betrayal to the environment and animal lovers to take place with his US Department of Agriculture permitting the opening of an American slaughterhouse for horses. Horses are a noble animal that belong in a pasture and not on a plate. The United States has an equine tradition dating back to Paul Revere's ride before the Declaration of Indepence and we are not honoring that history by permitting horse meat to be sold for human consumption. More on this wanton abuse of our noble steeds can be studied in this Christopher Seward article from the Atlanta Constitution Journal's website here:http://www.ajc.com/weblogs/biz-beat/2013/jul/01/1st-us-horse-slaughterhouse-gets-usda-green-light/

Who Really Cares?

With issues of great moment rocking the world, including the disintegration of Syria and the evident rekindling of revolution in Egypt, ABC Good Morning America used valuable airtime to shame Jennifer Lopez for singing "Happy Birthday" for the President of Turkmenistan. I doubt most Lopez fans even know where Turkmenistan is, nor are particularly troubled that Lopez feted a purported dictator. She was not putting a stage show on for Joseph Kony or belly dancing for Ayman al-Zawahiri and will still be embraced by her fan base.
